As Conor McGregor gets set to fight Dustin Poirier in an expected, rematch, the star’s reporting he is committed to making a title run at 155 pounds next year.

The former featherweight and lightweight champ is expected to face Poirier at UFC 257, January 23rd. McGregor hasn’t fought since January of this past year, when he stopped Donald Cerrone in a welterweight contest.

In June, McGregor announced he was retiring from fighting. But, more recently, McGregor has agreed to face Poirier and the UFC is working on finalizing the bout.

During a recent Twitter Q&A with fans, McGregor was asked whether he plans to fight again at welterweight, and he said this.

For sure! I will commit to the 155lb division for 2021 however. Some great matchups to be had here, as well as unfinished business. I will show the world once again who I am, and what I’m about. Trust that!
170 is in my thoughts also however.
You know me for doubling up…

Since winning the UFC’s lightweight title in 2016, McGregor (22-4) has fought only two times under MMA rules.
