After having his title shot hunt set back by Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Abu Dhabi, Cory Sandhagen has released a statement.

Sandhagen faced Nurmagomedov in the card’s main event, and lost a competitive, unanimous decision to the undefeated bantamweight. Since then, the 32-year-old contender shared the statement below via social media.

Tough sport. Umar is really world class – it was an honor to fight one of the world’s best. Congrats to him. Gonna keep getting better, like I always do. Thanks for the support. I love you guys. PEACE

Sandhagen (17-5) had won three straight prior to Saturday’s bout and was ranked #2 in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings.
