The UFC has announced several bouts for the promotion’s next event in Abu Dhabi, and one of them will feature the return of Nick Diaz.

Diaz, who hasn’t fought since 2021, will take on Vicente Luque in a five-round, welterweight bout. The fight will serve as the August 3rd card’s co-main event.

The 40-year-old Diaz (26-10) returned to the Octagon in 2021 for a fight with Robbie Lawler, after not competing for over five years. Diaz opted to not continue in the third round of the bout with Lawler.

Luque (22-20), meanwhile, is coming off a second round, stoppage loss to Joaquin Buckley in March.

The main event for the upcoming card will be an expected fight between bantamweight contenders Cory Sandhagen (17-4) and Umar Nurmagomedov (17-0). In the official announcement, UFC President Dana White referred to the bout as a number one contender fight.

In addition, the UFC has announced that Tony Ferguson (25-10) will move up to welterweight to fight Michael Chiesa (16-7), and that Marlon Vera (23-9) will face Deiveison Figueiredo (23-3-1) in another bout between bantamweight contenders.

The main card will also feature a strawweight contest between Mackenzie Dern (13-5) and Loopy Godinez (12-4).

The August 3rd, UFC Fight Night card will be broadcast on ABC in the United States.
