Cris “Cyborg” Plans to Transition to Boxing After UFC Deal Ends
By FCF Staff
It looks like Cris “Cyborg” could be stepping away from the cage for a while, after she completes her current UFC contract.
Recently the UFC’s featherweight champ attended a boxing event that featured female welterweight champ Cecilia Braekhus in action, while wearing a “Cyborg vs. Braekhus, 2019” shirt. Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole caught up with “Cyborg”, and she confirmed she’s hopes to transition into boxing and face Braekhus (quote via MMA Fighting):
“Of course, I need time for training,” “Cyborg” said. “I think 4-6 months training. That would be perfect since I have two fights left in MMA and then I can focus on boxing. I’m very excited.”
“After these fights, I will do a boxing fight. After these two fights left. Maybe I’ll come back but not for now. I want to use this time and make more boxing fights. This is my dream.”
The Brazilian star’s last bout took place in March, when “Cyborg” stopped Yana Kunitskaya.
