Cris ‘Cyborg’: “You Cannot be a GOAT if You’re Scared of The Cat”
By FCF Staff
After defending Bellator’s featherweight title for a second time, Cris ‘Cyborg’ is calling for a fight with fellow UFC veteran, Cat Zingano.
‘Cyborg’ faced Leslie Smith on Friday at Bellator 259, and stopped the rugged fighter in round five. While talking to the media after the win, about her next bout, ‘Cyborg’ (24-2, 1 NC) said this (quote via MMA Junkie).
“I’m 16 years (into) fighting. I have a lot of experience. You cannot be a GOAT if you’re scared of the cat. So, I asked (to) see if Scott Coker agrees with me. I’d like to fight Cat Zingano. No disrespect to her. I know she’s a real fighter, but I think it’s going to be a great fight between us.”
Zingano (12-4) has gone 2-0 since she joined Bellator in 2020. In her most recent outing, this past April, she submitted Olivia Parker in the first round.
And, while discussing a timeline for her next fight, the 35-year-old ‘Cyborg’ said this.
“(I want to fight) as soon as possible. I always am training. I’ve been training for a long time. I don’t just train for the camp. I train all year. When it’s close to the fight, I just do something different for my opponent. But any time Scott Coker wants to ask me for a fight or to talk to my manager, I know I’m ready.”
‘Cyborg’ won Bellator’s featherweight title in January, 2020, by stopping Julia Budd in round four.
