Magomed Ankalaev has returned home to his native Dagestan, following his championship win at UFC 313, and the light-heavyweight received a hero’s welcome.
Ankalaev ended the reign of Alex Pereira at the March 8th card, by recording a unanimous decision win over the feared striker.
As the 32-year-old arrived in Makhachkala, which is the capital city of Dagestan, fans were on hand to congratulate him on his victory.
Ankalaev also reported that he has agreed to fight Pereira in a rematch. But, the decorated fighter wasn’t certain that match-up would be his next bout. Following UFC 313, UFC CEO Dana White said the promotion would likely book an immediate rematch.
With Saturday’s win, Ankalaev (20-1) extended his undefeated streak to 14. Pereira’s record now stands at 12-3.
