Dana White Announces Leon Edwards – Khamzat Chimaev Fight
By FCF Staff
Following the recent news that Leon Edwards had been removed from the UFC’s welterweight ranks due to inactivity, Dana White’s announced the contender will face rising star, Khamzat Chimaev next.
During a recent episode of ‘The Jim Rome Show’, White announced that Edwards and Chimaev have agreed to fight. The fight is expected to headline the UFC’s December 19th card, which will take place at the Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
Edwards (18-3) has worked his way into title contention via an eight fight winning streak. ‘Rocky’, however, hasn’t fought since last July when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos via decision.
Chimaev (9-0) made UFC history this past July by becoming the first fighter in the promotion’s history to win two fights, in just 10 days. In his last fight, last month, Chimaev KO’d Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds.
