Dana White: Conor McGregor – Nate Diaz III Not First on UFC’s List

Recently Nate Diaz  hinted via social media that he’s planning to return to the Octagon sometime this summer. But, it doesn’t sound like a rubber match with Conor McGregor, is first on the UFC’s list of possible match-ups for the fighters.

Since Diaz lost via decision to McGregor in their 2016 rematch, there’s been talk about the two fighting for a third time. Recently Dana White appeared on TMZ Sports, and when asked about the possibility of a rubber match with Diaz being next for McGregor, he said this (quote via Bloody Elbow):

“I think people would rather see Conor come back and either fight Tony [Ferguson] or Khabib [Nurmagomedov] — whoever wins — and the Nate Diaz fight isn’t going anywhere. We can do that thing any time.”

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov will fight at UFC 223, on April 7th. As it stands right now, it’s not clear yet if the bout will be for the interim lightweight title Ferguson holds, or the undisputed title. White has said that if McGregor doesn’t commit to defending the title before the fall, he will be stripped of the belt.
