Dana White: Khamzat Chimaev’s Third UFC Bout on Hold Due to Travel Issues
By FCF Staff
Dana White has said he wants to get Khamzat Chimaev back in the Octagon, as soon as possible. But, the UFC President’s reporting travel issues are holding up that plan.
After Chimaev made UFC history in July, by winning two fights in just 10 days, the rising fighter asked to be booked for another bout as soon as possible. White made it clear he wants to make that happen.
But while talking to the media ahead of UFC 252, White reported this (quote via MMA Fighting).
“He wants to fight and people will fight him,” White said. “It’s just we’ve got to work on getting him into the country. It ain’t easy to get people into the country right now.”
Chimaev made his UFC debut on July 15th and submitted middleweight John Phillips in round two. 10 days later, the Chechen born, Swedish fighter quickly stopped fellow welterweight prospect, Rhys McKee.
The 26-year-old Chimaev has gone 8-0 to date in professional MMA bouts.
