Dana White Outlines Why Ilia Topuria vs. Alexander Volkanovski 2 is Likely Next

Following Ilia Topuria’s electrifying knockout of Max Holloway at UFC 308, Dana White acknowledged Alexander Volkanovski will likely get a shot at avenging his loss to the featherweight champ.
Topuria (16-0) faced Holloway (26-8) in the headliner of Saturday’s card, and finished the legend with a vicious series of punches in round three. The bout marked the first time the Georgian-Spanish fighter had competed since he ended Volkanovski’s reign in February, via a brutal knockout in round two.
During the post-fight presser, White was asked about whether Topuria – Volkanovski 2 could be next. The UFC CEO proceeded to outline why that will likely be the case (quotes via MMA Fighting).
“Listen, Volkanovski’s one of those guys, we’re not going to say no to Volkanovski,” White said. “He’s been that guy for us. Any time we needed him. He was on this run like [Israel] Adesanya, like Alex [Pereira] is on right now, when things don’t go our way, and you’ve got to call a guy, Volkanovski’s always been that guy. He really was.
“I don’t think anybody’s in this room going ‘oh this is ridiculous or crazy’ and who wouldn’t want to see it again?”
Volkanovski (26-4) who was in attendance at UFC 308 and briefly spoke with Topuria in the Octagon afterward, has not fought since his loss to “El Matador”.
