Dana White Reports Bonuses Will Increase Due to New UFC Broadcasting Deal
By FCF Staff
Following the recent news the UFC has signed a new, massive broadcasting deal, observers have been speculating on how the agreement could impact fighter compensation. While it remains to be seen to what extent that will occur, Dana White is reporting that bonuses will increase.
Earlier in the week, it was announced the UFC has signed a broadcasting deal with Paramount worth $7.7 billion. As noted, the news immediately prompted conversations regarding how fighters will benefit from the deal.
While speaking to the media following the latest Contender Series event on Tuesday, White reported the promotion hasn’t made any official decisions yet. But, White confirmed that fight night bonuses will increase (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).
“Listen, I’m not going to have any comments on that because we’ve still got to get together and figure this stuff out. It’s August, we have until January to figure that stuff out. But the low-hanging fruit that’s easy to answer? Bonuses are obviously going up. So that will be big. Forget about the tide rising with all the other fighters, just the number that the bonuses bring to a fighter is millions of dollars.”
Typically, the UFC awards two “Performance of the Night” bonuses worth $50,000 each event, as well as a “Fight of the Night” bonus that pays both fighters $50 K.
