Now that T.J. Dillashaw has vacated the bantamweight title, after testing positive for a banned substance, Dana White’s reporting that Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes will likely fight for the 135 belt.
Following UFC Nashville last night, White reportedly said the following while appearing on the post-fight, ESPN show (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I now have a plan. I didn’t have a plan before, but I now have a plan,” White said. “It looks like we’re going to do the Moraes-Cejudo fight. They both want that fight really bad, seems like a good fight to make with the whole Dillashaw thing now. And then you do him (Jussier “Formiga”) versus (Joseph) Benavidez on the same card. Anything goes wrong, one of them can step up and take the fight, and then the winner of that fight is the guaranteed No. 1 contender for the next shot.”
“Formiga” faced fellow flyweight contender Deiveson Figueiredo on Saturday and worked his way to a decision win.
Cejudo is coming off a quick, stoppage win over Dillashaw in January, who dropped down to 125 to challenge the flyweight champ.
