Dana White Says Joanne Calderwood Will Receive Bonus, New Deal, Following Thrilling Win
By FCF Staff
After Joanne Calderwood relayed she was “gutted” by the fact she didn’t earn a bonus at UFC Fight Night 89, and is broke, Dana White says more money is headed her way.
Calderwood stopped Valerie Letourneau in the third round on Saturday, in what was one of the night’s most exciting fights. The 29 year-old didn’t pick up a bonus, however, and after the bout she reported she was “broke as hell”.
White was the guest on the first episode of the UFC’s “Unfiltered” podcast, and during the show, he said that the promotion was going to be sending Calderwood a bonus. In addition, the UFC President stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“In that 115-pound division, you don’t see finishes, the way she finished Valerie,” White said. “And, Valerie went five rounds with Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Joanna didn’t do that to her. We’re going to take care of her, and we’re going to sign her to a new deal.”
Calderwood (11-1) has gone 3-1 now since joining the UFC in 2014.
