Dana White Says Jon Jones’ Ability And New Dedication to Training Make For a “Scary Combination”
By FCF Staff
Since Jon Jones was reinstated by the UFC, the former champ’s reported he’s more dedicated than ever to fighting, and Dana White believes that could be a scary situation for the opposition.
Prior to Jones well documented arrest for a hit-and-run incident last year, he was widely considered to be the best, pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. Since he returned to the UFC, however, Jones has repeatedly said he’s training harder than ever, and that he’s more committed to his career than before.
The light-heavyweight star is scheduled to fight his rival, reigning light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, on April 23rd. Recently White had this to say about Jones, while talking to UFC.com:
“What’s fascinating about Jon Jones right now is if you look at what this guy was doing in the past and how hardcore he’s training now – It’s almost scary,” White said. “The guy who’s never taken it serious is literally taking it serious now. What’s the new Jon Jones going to be like now?”
“He is in his prime right now – his physical fighting prime. He’s never been more serious than he is right now. It’s a scary combination.”
Jones hasn’t fought since last January, when he decisioned Cormier at UFC 182.
