Dana White Says T.J. Dillashaw is The Big Fight Demetrious Johnson’s “Been Crying For”
By FCF Staff
Dana White criticized Demetrious Johnson for not taking a bout with T.J. Dillashaw earlier this year, and now that the latter’s called out the flyweight champ again, the UFC President’s applying pressure to make it happen.
After a July bout between Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt fell through, as the latter was forced to pull out due to a back injury, Dillashaw offered to fight Johnson. White endorsed the fight, but Johnson argued Dillashaw was undeserving of a title shot, since he doesn’t fight at 125.
After Dillashaw stopped Garbrandt this past weekend to regain the 135 title, he called out Johnson again. During the post-fight press conference, White had this to say about the proposed bout (quote via MMA Junkie):
“He’s been crying for a long time for a big fight,” White said. “He’s got his big fight now. You know I’m down for it, because I wanted to do it before. But now it’s even better – because they both have belts.”
Johnson is coming off a submission win over Ray Borg last month, which was a record setting, 11th title defense.
