Dana White Says UFC Holding 2015 Date at Madison Square Garden
By FCF Staff
Although pro MMA still isn’t sanctioned in New York, UFC President Dana White is so confident the sport will be legalized in the region soon, he’s relayed the promotion is holding a date at Madison Square Garden.
Slowly, but surely, political support for pro MMA has been building in New York, and more recently, one of the sport’s biggest detractors, New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, was arrested on corruption charges. As a result, many observers believe legislation to sanction pro MMA could finally pass through the State Assembly.
White appeared on AXS TV’s “Inside MMA” on Friday, and during the interview, he confirmed that the UFC hopes to hold an event, at MSG, later in 2015. Although White didn’t disclose what date the promotion is considering, he did say that holding an event in New York City, would be a great way to “top off” the year.
