It’s not clear yet when and who Ben Askren will face in his Octagon debut, but Dana White’s confirmed that the former Bellator and ONE champ will face a top tier welterweight.

Recently it was confirmed that Askren is heading to the UFC, as part of an agreement which has sent former flyweight champ, Demetrious Johnson, to ONE Championship.  TMZ Sports recently caught up with White, and when asked about Askren’s UFC debut, the promotion’s president said this (quote via Bloody Elbow):

“I don’t know; we’re still working on it,” White said. “Obviously, he’s gonna come into the welterweight division. 170 pounds. He’s undefeated, he’s their champion. So we’re excited about it.”

“He’s definitely gonna fight somebody in the top five.”

The 34 year-old Askren (18-0) hasn’t competed since last November, when he quickly finished Shinya Aoki.
