Although scheduled fights for Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Tony Ferguson have fallen apart five times to date, Dana White is willing to book the match-up again if need be.

The all-star lightweights were most recently booked to fight at UFC 249 this past spring. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic Nurmagomedov was stranded in Russia and could not leave the country. Ferguson ended up facing Justin Gaethje, and lost the fight via TKO stoppage.

Due to how many times Nurmagomedov – Ferguson has fallen through, many have questioned whether the UFC would be willing to go down that road again.

But while talking to Sports Illustrated recently, White revealed the promotion would, if required.

“If Khabib does beat Gaethe, you get Tony Ferguson another fight, which we’re working on right now. And hopefully that fight with Khabib happens because I know people want to see it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fight fall apart as many times as those two. It almost scares me to make the fight again. What’s going to happen? An asteroid comes to earth? That’s the level of bad this thing is.”

Nurmagomedov is scheduled to face Gaethje in the headliner of UFC 254, which is taking place on October 24th.
