Daniel Cormier Comments on Return of Jon Jones: “This is The Best News…”
By FCF Staff
Daniel Cormier’s rivalry with Jon Jones is well documented, but the light-heavyweight champ is happy to hear that the former champ is returning to the UFC.
On Friday, the UFC confirmed that it is reinstating Jones, following the recent news that the fighter has reached a plea deal with authorities. “Bones” was stripped of the 205 title and suspended by the promotion, after Jones was arrested for a hit-and-run incident earlier this year.
In response to the UFC’s announcement, Cormier posted the following comments on Facebook:
Congrats to Jon “Bones” Jones on his reinstatement to the UFC. For MMA fans this is a good day. A guy that has shown to be one of the greatest fighters of all time is back. As a competitor there could be no other outcome and this is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Jon has said the right things and his actions are backing his words up. We all hope this is the last time we have to deal with anything like that. And lastly as a fan u get to see see 2 of the best fighters compete against each other. With that being said I can’t wait to compete against him again.
Jones worked his way to a decision win over Cormier this past January. The latter secured the vacant title in May by submitting Anthony Johnson.
The UFC has not confirmed when Jones will fight, however, a rematch between him and Cormier is expected to take place in early 2016.
