DARE Signs Pride Vet Daiju Takase, Fighting Brandon Kesler Next

By FCF Staff

Dare Fight Sports has added an experienced MMA competitor to its middleweight roster as the promotion has announced that it has signed Pride veteran Daiju Takase to a multi-fight contract.

According to a press release from the promotion, Takase will make his DARE debut on January 7th against Brandon Kesler, which will be hosted by Bangkok, Thailand’s Club Insomnia.

The winner will advance to the quarterfinals of the promotion’s upcoming 16 man middleweight tournament.

Takase (9-13-2) will head into the bout having gone undefeated in three fights. The 33 year-old-veteran hasn’t fought since April, 2010, when he battled Hoon Kim to a draw while competing for Pancrase.

Prior to his recent undefeated streak, Takase had lost four straight fights, which included losses to Hector Lombard and Terry Martin. Takase is one of only two men to have submitted UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, who he caught with a triangle-choke at Pride 26 in June, 2003.

According to the press release from DARE, Kesler is an experienced wrestler who trains and fights out of the 13 Coins Gym in Bangkok.

The January 7th, DARE 1/12 event will be available via online pay-per-view at darelive.tv.
