Darren Till Says Move to Middleweight Still Needs to be Considered
By FCF Staff
It doesn’t sound like Darren Till is planning to leave welterweight behind him just yet, but the British fighter admits he needs to thinking about moving up to middleweight.
Till cuts a lot of weight to make the 170 limit, and his issues doing so for his 2018 fight with Stephen Thompson were well documented. While concerns over Till making weight for his last bout against Jorge Masvidal were less, recently he fighter told Fighters Only he’s still thinking about leaving the weight class (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“I do have to think about them things,” Till said. “I wouldn’t be small at 185. I’d be right in the mix in there with them guys. The great guy, the interim champ Israel (Adesanya) is a great fighter. The champ (Robert Whittaker) is a good fighter. There’s a few beasts. The one guy who is a scary guy is Yoel (Romero).”
The 26-year-old Till (17-2-1) has yet to be booked for his next bout, following his KO loss to Masvidal in March.
