Demetrious Johnson-Joseph Benavidez II to Headline TUF 18 Finale
By FCF Staff
Joseph Benavidez has done nothing but impress since he lost by split decision to Demetrious Johnson approximately one year ago, and as a result, the #1 flyweight contender has been booked to rematch the champion. The UFC has announced that Johnson-Benavidez II will headline the TUF 18 Finale on November 30th, which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Benavidez (19-3) just fought at UFC FN 28 on Septembe 4th and stopped the top ten ranked Jussier “Formiga” in the first round. The victory followed the Team Alpha Male fighter’s TKO of Darren Uyenoyama and a unanimous decision win over Ian McCall.
Johnson (18-2-1), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since UFC on FOX 8 in July when he tapped out John Moraga with a fifth round, armbar. Prior to that “Mighty Mouse” worked his way to a UD win over John Dodson in January. The champion is 4-0-1 in his last five bouts.
The TUF 18 Finale will also feature the finals for both the women’s and men’s competition, as well as a lightweight scrap between Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz.
