After months of speculation, Dustin Poirier’s next and final fight has been booked: the former interim lightweight champ will battle Max Holloway for the BMF title.

Recently, the 36-year-old Poirier (30-9) announced on The Pat McAfee Show that he will face Holloway (26-8) for a third time, in what will be his final walk to the Octagon. The fight will headline UFC 318, which is taking place on July 19th in New Orleans.

Louisiana’s Poirier fought Hawaii’s Holloway for the first time all the way back in 2012, and submitted the newcomer in the first round. That contest was at featherweight.

The two fought for the second time in 2019 for the interim lightweight title, and Poirier won that fight via unanimous decision.

Following Poirier’s submission loss to current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev last June, the legend said he wasn’t sure if he would compete again. Ultimately, Poirier decided to return for one more fight.

The 33-year-old Holloway, meanwhile, is coming off a knockout loss to now former featherweight champ, Ilia Topuria in October. Holloway won the BFM title in April, 2024, by knocking out Justin Gaethje with one-second left in their thrilling contest.
