After scoring his sixth straight victory at Bellator 201, undefeated Ed Ruth is hoping to secure a spot in the promotion’s upcoming, welterweight grand-prix.

Ruth took on Andy Murad at Bellator 201 this past weekend, and the decorated wrestler proceeded to stop the latter in round two.  After the win, Ruth relayed the following, when asked if he’d be interested in competing in the tourney (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I think that tonight has put me in the running,” Ruth said. “Hopefully I’m going to be in it. I will not say no to that.

“You jump into this sport, who are you looking to fight? You’re not just going to coast along. You’ve got to look toward the big guys. These are the guys that got me in it, so of course I want to fight those guys that got me in it.”

Bellator President Scott Coker heaped praise on Ruth, following his win, and said he may look at having the rising welterweight compete in a bout, in which the winner would move into the tourney.
