Edson Barboza Calls Latest UFC Rankings a “Joke”, Following Dan Ige Fight
By FCF Staff
Edson Barboza really wasn’t happy with the judges’ decision at UFC Florida, and the longtime, lightweight contender isn’t pleased with the people who determine the promotion’s rankings.
Barboza made his featherweight debut against Dan Ige on May 16th, and lost via a tightly contested, split decision.
The latest UFC rankings have been posted since the event took place and Barboza is no longer ranked in the top 15 for lightweight. Ige, meanwhile, moved up four spots in the featherweight ranks and is now #11.
This prompted Barboza to tweet out the following.
Do you guys know who makes the @ufc ranking? I’m sure it’s not the specialists. They don’t listen to the fans or public. I didn’t care about it, but now I’m sure this ranking is just a joke.
They took me off from the lightweight division ranking. Ige stepped up 4 positions and I am not even in the ranking in the featherweight division, in a fight that the whole word knows that I won. It doesn’t make any sense. @ufc @danawhite
