Edson Barboza Wants Quick Turnaround Fight, Despite Consecutive Losses
By FCF Staff
Although Edson Barboza is coming off consecutive, one sided defeats, the lightweight contender has no intention of taking a prolonged break from competing.
Last month, Barboza was handed a TKO loss versus Kevin Lee, after doctors stopped their bout in the fifth round, due to the punishment his right eye had taken. In December, Barboza incurred a one sided, decision loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But, while speaking to MMA Fighting recently, the vicious striker said this:
“My plan is to fight again as soon as possible,” Barboza said. “I love what I do and I’m still motivated and hungry to keep training and getting better. I want to fight at least two times more this year.”
“I got hit a lot in the head (in those fights),” Barboza added, “It’s funny that people say I’m a warrior, that I don’t quit, that I can take a beating, and those are the same people that said I have a glass chin after my loss to (Donald) Cerrone [laughs]. I want to fight as quick as possible. I already trained today and I will come back with everything I have.”
Prior to the losses against Lee and Nurmagomedov, the 32 year-old Barboza had won three straight.
