Fabricio Werdum Says There’s a “100%” Chance he Beats Stipe Miocic in Rematch
By FCF Staff
Fabricio Werdum was quickly KO’d by Stipe Miocic in their first bout, but the former heavyweight champ is positive he’d defeat the latter if they fight again.
Werdum attended UFC 220 this past weekend, which saw Miocic earn a decision victory over rising star, Francis Ngannou. The victory marked the third time Miocic has defended the heavyweight title, since he stopped Werdum in May, 2016. No other heavyweight champion to date, had defended the belt three times.
At the card, Werdum said he deserves a title shot, and he also had this to say about fighting Miocic again (quote via MMA Junkie):
“100 percent, I will be a champion this year again …” Werdum relayed, in an interview with TSN. “I know Stipe Miocic. I respect him. I like him. He doesn’t say nothing like bad things. He’s a nice guy, for sure. But, 100 percent: When I fought him before, I (lost). I lost (to) myself. I lost (to) me. Because of a lot of things. This time – 100 percent, he’s a good fighter. But 100 percent, I beat him. I saw this today. I’m feeling this.”
Werdum has fought four times since he lost the belt to Miocic, and has gone 3-1.
