“Fight for the Troops III”: Smith-Chiesa, Bermudez-Lentz Added
By FCF Staff
The UFC’s November 6th, “Fight for the Troops III” card has two new additions, as the promotion has announced that Nik Lentz will fight Dennis Bermudez, and that Michael Chiesa will battle fellow TUF winner Colton Smith. The event will take place at Kentucky’s Fort Campbell and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
Chiesa (9-1) will be looking to rebound from his first pro-defeat, as veteran Jorge Masvidal caught the lightweight with a second round, Dárce Choke at UFC on FOX 8. Prior to the loss, Chiesa had choked out Al Iaquinta to win TUF 15, and then proceeded to submit Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157 this past February.
Smith (3-2) is also coming off a loss, as he was stopped by Robert Whittaker at UFC 160, after scoring a decision win over Mike Ricci to take TUF 16. The Army Ranger has decided to drop down from welterweight to compete at 155 pounds.
Nik Lentz (24-5-2) has won three straight bouts now since he moved down from lightweight to featherweight, and is coming off an impressive UD win over Hacran Dias.
Bermudez (11-3), meanwhile, has won four in a row since he was tapped out by Diego Brandao in the TUF 14 Finale. Most recently he scored a split decision win over Max Holloway.
UFC Fight Night 31 will feature Lyoto Machida’s middleweight debut, as the former light-heavyweight champ will take on Tim Kennedy in the main event.
