One of the greatest bantamweights of all time, Dominick Cruz, has announced he’s hanging up the gloves at the age of 39.

The former UFC and WEC champ was booked to fight Rob Font at the UFC’s upcoming, February 22nd card in Seattle. Recently, however, it was announced that Cruz had withdrawn due to an injury.

Since then, the renowned fighter announced via social media that he has dislocated his shoulder twice in the last eight months. As the result of this latest setback, Cruz has confirmed he will not fight again.

Cruz (24-4) made his pro-debut back in January, 2025, and had worked his way to the WEC by 2007. The California fighter went on to win the WEC bantamweight title in 2010, and when the WEC merged with the UFC later that same year, he defeated Scott Jorgensen to become the UFC champ.

Due to serious knee injuries, Cruz was sidelined for multiple years more than once. His last bout took place in August, 2022, when he was stopped by Maron Vera.
