Frank Mir Believes Storied Career is Likely Over if Suspended For Two Years
By FCF Staff
Frank Mir say his storied career is likely over, if the fighter ends up receiving a two year suspension, after failing a drug test last month.
Recently USADA announced that Mir has allegedly tested positive for a banned substance, following his stoppage loss to Mark Hunt in March. Since then, the former heavyweight champ has denied taking performance enhancing drugs.
During a follow up episode of his podcast, Phone Booth Fighting MMA, the 36 year-old said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“That was probably my last time fighting,” Mir said. … “I don’t see any other way around it. Age is catching up to me now. I’m not gonna get any younger in the next two years.”
Mir also said in the episode that he has “no clue” as to how he could have tested positive for a banned substance, and also noted that he has not been showing up for fights with a “six pack”. Mir has asked to have his second sample tested by USADA.
The noted finisher has gone 2-6 in his last 8 bouts.
