GLORY 24: Jason Wilnis Stepping in For Artem Levin, Pat Barry to Battle Karl Roberson
By FCF Staff
GLORY 24 will no longer feature a middleweight title fight, as the promotion has announced that champion Artem Levin has suffered an elbow injury and will no longer fight Joe Schilling.
Stepping in for the renowned kickboxer will be Jason Wilnis (23-4-1), who lost via split decision to Simon Marcus in his last bout. Schilling (18-7) decisioned Robert Thomas in his last kickboxing match. In June, Schilling was KO’d by Hisaki Kato while fighting for Bellator.
GLORY has also announced that Pat Barry (17-6-1) will throw down with Karl Roberson in the co-headliner.
“While it’s unfortunate that our champion was injured and we wish him a speedy recovery, we are still able to put together a fight between two of the very best middleweights in the world,” GLORY CEO Jon Franklin said in the announcement. “It speaks to the depth of talent on our roster and Jason [Wilnis] stepped-up with no hesitation.
“The third fight between Levin and Schilling will happen in the GLORY ring at some point, but make no mistake; this match-up at GLORY 24 has huge implications for one of our deepest divisions.”
The October 9th event will be hosted by the Magness Arena in Denver on October 9th. The main card will be broadcast on Spike.
