Glover Teixeira Issues Warning to Younger Light-Heavyweights
By FCF Staff
Following his win over Ion Cutelaba last month, Glover Teixeira has warned younger fighters who believe they’ll run through the light-heavyweight contender.
The 39-year-old contender faced Cutelaba at UFC FN 150, and after taking some heavy shots in round one, Teixeira submitted the 25-year-old in round two. In January, Teixeira submitted the 28-year-old Karl Roberson at UFC FN 153.
More recently, the Brazilian fighter spoke with Combate, and while doing so, Teixeira said this (quote via Bloody Elbow):
“Now that I hit this age, 39, that’s what everybody will do (use him as a stepping stone). But I won’t stop training. I’ve been winning, I’m in the top 10 and I’ve shown why I’m here since my UFC debut. Guys want to make a name for themselves, they look at my age and think they will run over me. It’s not like that, though. I’m tougher than that.”
With the win over Cutelaba, Teixeira moved his overall record to 29-7. The veteran fighter is ranked #10 in the UFC’s 205 division.
