Gokhan Saki Still Plans to be “The Best” in UFC Run
By FCF Staff
Many observers were surprised when the UFC signed Gokhan Saki to a contract, and the renowned kickboxer continues to insist that he intends to win championship gold.
Saki made his UFC debut last September, and stopped Henrique da Silva in the opening round. The bout marked the first time since 2004 that Saki fought under MMA rules.
Since then, Saki has been sidelined due to a knee injury, but while speaking to Bloody Elbow about his return to the cage, the feared striker said this:
Its really simple: I’m a competitive athlete. I’m here to fight the best and prove that I’m the best because I beat the best. I cant settle for less than a number one position. Its not in my blood, I can’t finish second. Nobody remembers number two, I’m here to be remembered. The guy that came, saw, and conquered.
If there are no obstacles like what happened with my knee I will do this within a year from now. It’s just like i said – I don’t know how I’m going to win, I just know I’m not going to lose.
Saki had been scheduled to fight Khalil Rountree at UFC 219 in December, until he was forced to undergo knee surgery.
