Featherweight Prospect Reportedly Not Signed to Aggression FC

By Kelsey Mowatt

Just days after Aggression Fighting Championship announced that it had signed Canadian featherweight prospect Graham Spencer, Maximum Fighting Championship is reporting that it has locked up the 8-1 fighter.

In a press release sent out by the MFC today, the organization announced that it had signed Spencer to a multi-fight agreement, and that the promotion would unveil its newly created featherweight division on October 26th.

Spencer’s trainer, Impact MMA’s John Punt, has relayed to Full Contact Fighter that the featherweight has in fact signed with the MFC and not Aggression.

“I am very excited about bringing Graham Spencer into the MFC as part of our leap into the featherweight division,” MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “The MFC re-launched its heavyweight division, and now by adding the 145ers, our talent pool is getting even deeper.”

“But I tell all the fighters the same thing I said to Graham’s management. It’s not going to be easy, there are no free rides, no hand-picking your opponents in the MFC. No one is going to get handed anything.”

Spencer is coming off a fourth round, rear-naked-choke win over Shawn Albrecht at a Battlefield Fight League event in February.

Prior to that, at BFL 8 in May, 2011, Spencer scored a unanimous decision win over Bibiano Fernandes BJJ Black Belt, Bruno Capdeville.

The Nanaimo, British Columbia fighter is undefeated in four straight fights.
