Huge Match Added To Storm 2001!
From the event’s promoter: HUGE Match Added to Storm 2001! Huge and I literally mean a "HUGE" addition to the Storm 2001 event this Saturday 12-8-01 has been added to the card. #1 ranked UFC heavyweight Josh "the baby faced assassin" Barnett will be taking on 6’5" 400 pound Bob "silverback" Saap in a special submission match. Barnett is considered the most versatile heavyweight in the world today with world class skills both standing and on the ground. Saap is a monster! 6’5" and 400lbs of solid muscle (this guy has ripped abs at 400lbs). Some may remember Bob Saap from the brutal beating that he gave to William "the refridgerator" Perry on the FX Toughman event. Saap was a former pro footbal player and WCW wrestler who has taken to MMA and was recently signed by K-1 to fight in their new MMA events. Just the sight of these 2 Goliaths in the same ring is a sight, just imagine when they start throwing around their combined 650 pounds in fierce action…front row ticket holders beware!! From the event’s promoter: Filho Fractures a bone under the Eye in training, Bitetti ready to go Honolulu, HI — The day after Paulo Filho agrees to take on Dennis Hallman in an octagon at Shogun, he sustained a fracture to the eye socket that will keep him from fighting. In his place fellow countryman and UFC veteran, Amaury Bitetti, will be taking his place. Amaury has been interested in fighting at Shogun since the event was announced and was a natural choice to take Filho’s place. Promoter, Helen Miller, had Amaury’s contract in hand within hours after receiving word of the unfortunate training accident, in Brazil, that will sideline Filho. "It was always our intention to bring top notch Hawaiian fighters, Mainland fighters, Japanese fighters, and Brazilian fighters under one roof for a great night of fights in Hawaii." Says Miller, "After Egan’s injury, we went straight to the top for the fight fans. Its unfortunate that Top Team won’t be able to represent, but injuries are a part of the game you have no control over and the health of these athletes is #1. Amaury is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt that always puts on a fantastic show. He is a truly exciting fighter to watch because he is not afraid to go toe-to-toe. He’s proven that." Amaury is quoted as saying, "I’d rather die than tap out!" Judo: Boxing: |
