Having battled Alex Pereira in the ring and cage multiple times, Israel Adesanya has some ideas on how “Poatan” can take out Magomed Ankalaev this weekend at UFC 313.

Pereira is booked to fight the light-heavyweight contender, who is riding a 13-fight, undefeated streak, heading into the contest.

Adesanya, who has gone 1-3 to date against Pereira in MMA and kickboxing bouts, recently weighed in on the fight via his YouTube channel. Here was some of what the former middleweight champ had to say (quotes via MMA Junkie.com).

“He’s going to shoot because he’s going to get tagged on the legs and again, could get clocked in the face,” Adesanya said while referring to Ankalaev. “If you say Magomed has good straight shots, that’s something Alex has to watch out for, and he switches a lot. Southpaw will be his best stance, for Magomed, but I think, like I said, Alex is starting to, I’ve seen it in his last fight with Khalil, his low left kick.

“… Maybe I’m banking too much on the leg kicks. I have experience with it. I know how painful it is and how effective it is. Regardless, I’ma go Pereira because, momentum. He is just on a tear right now. I like the way he’s even able to do it with the amount of travel he does.”

Adesanya also reported that he believes Pereira will knock Ankalaev out in the card’s headliner.

“I just think this is going to go leg kicks, leg kicks, leg kicks, left hook. Alex Pereira by KO. … He’s going to knock him out in the fourth or fifth round.”

Perereira (12-2) will be competing for the first time since September when he stopped Khalil Rountree Jr.

Ankalaev (19-1-1), meanwhile, last fought in October and recorded a unanimous decision win over Aleksandar Rakić.

UFC 313 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
