After competing in over 100 professional bouts to date, former UFC champ, Israel Adesanya sees the end of the road for his fighting career.

The former kickboxer, who has also competed in pro-boxing bouts, has gone 23-2 in pro-MMA fights. While speaking with the media last week in Australia, the 33-year-old Adesanya reported he doesn’t see himself fighting in five years (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I’ve been in the UFC five years, right? If I’m being honest, I’m not gonna be here in five years,” Adesanya said. “I have other things to do in life.”

“I love this sh*t and I’m f*cking great at it but I never attach myself to this and I’m gonna leave on top. So yeah, that’s the best way I feel like you should leave. But again, I’ve been here five years in the UFC, (snaps fingers) it went like that. We’ll see how long I’m here for but I don’t think it’s gonna be five years.”

Adesanya will look to reclaim the UFC’s middleweight title on April 8th, when he rematches current champ, Alex Pereira. The fight will headline UFC 287, which will take place in Miami.

Pereira stopped Adesanya in the fifth round of their fight on November 12th.
