Israel Adesanya Fires Back at Derek Brunson, Following Latter’s Callout
By FCF Staff
Immediately after Derek Brunson submitted Darren Till on Saturday, he was quick to call for a rematch with Israel Adesanya, and the champ has responded.
Brunson faced Till in the headliner of UFC Vegas 36, and dominated much of the fight with his top game and wrestling. In round three, Till managed to land some stinging shots. But, Brunson took the middleweight down again and submitted him with a rear-naked-choke.
Moments after the bout was stopped, Brunson called Adesanya out, which prompted this response from the champion.
Calm down…boy.

Brunson and Adesanya fought in November, 2018, and the latter stopped the powerful wrestler in round one. Since then, however, Brunson (23-7) has won five straight. Heading into this weekend’s action, the 37-year-old was ranked #5 in the UFC’s middleweight division.
The 32-year-old Adesanya 21-1), meanwhile, is coming off a clear-cut, decision win over Marvin Vettori in June. Prior to that, the vaunted striker challenged light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz and lost via decision.
Adesanya is expected to face former champ, Robert Whittaker next. Adesanya scored a second-round, stoppage win over Whittaker in 2019.
