“Jacare” Preparing For Possible Return To Strikeforce On March 3

He may not have an opponent yet, but former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (14-3) is preparing for the possibility of a return to the cage at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey in Columbus, Ohio on March 3.
“We are waiting for an opponent at this time,” said Souza’s manager, Gilberto Faria. “Jacare is training and he will be ready to fight on March 3. It’s up to Strikeforce now to come up with an opponent for Jacare.”
It is rumored that Souza of Manaus, Brazil could face 34-year-old Moise Rimbon (18-9-3) of Paris, France.
Souza surrendered the middleweight strap last Sept. 10 when he lost a unanimous decision to Luke Rockhold in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has not fought since then.
Prior to the loss to Rockhold, Souza was on a four fight win streak that began with his first round submission (arm-triangle choke) of Matt Lindland on Dec. 19, 2009. Souza then earned two consecutive unanimous decisions – the first over Joey Villasenor on May 15, 2010, and the second over Tim Kennedy, which earned Souza the previously vacant middleweight title, on Aug. 21, 2010.
