Jairzinho Rozenstruik Calls For Interim Title Fight With Francis Ngannou at UFC 249
By FCF Staff
It’s still not known if UFC 249 will happen, but if it does, Jairzinho Rozenstruik is proposing he and Francis Ngannou fight for an interim, heavyweight title.
The noted kickboxer was supposed to fight Ngannou at UFC Columbus, March 28th. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and restrictions on public gatherings, the event was postponed.
UFC President Dana White has repeatedly said that the UFC will find a way to host an event on April 18th, as planned. As a result, Rozenstruik recently posted the comments and image below.
The 32-year-old Rozenstruik has gone 10-0 to date in MMA bouts and 4-0 in the UFC. In his last outing, the heavyweight recorded a late, come from behind win over Alistair Overeem.
As far as the heavyweight title, the expectation is that Daniel Cormier will challenge champion Stipe Miocic in a rubber match, later this year. Miocic reclaimed the belt last August, by stopping Cormier in round four.
