Jairzinho Rozenstruik Has no Regrets Calling Out Francis Ngannou
By FCF Staff
Although Jairzinho Rozenstruik was quickly put away by Francis Ngannou in their fight this past May, ‘Bigi Boy’ has no regrets about pursuing a fight with the feared slugger.
After Rozenstruik defeated Alistair Overeem in December, the experienced kickboxer called for a fight with Ngannou. The heavyweights eventually fought on May 9th and Ngannoun needed just 20 seconds to knock Rozenstruik out.
But, while talking to MMA Junkie recently, the 32-year-old reported he isn’t second-guessing his decision to face Ngannou.
“Regret, no,” Rozenstruik said. “It was a big chance. We knew that it was a big fight, a big challenge. And it didn’t go my way, but my dream is still alive. I hope he becomes champion. If you ask me to fight him tomorrow, I’d fight him again. I train to fight him again. Respect, it’s all business. I wish him luck, and hopefully I see him around.”
Up next, Rozenstruik (10-1) is set to face former champion Junior dos Santos (21-7) on August 15th. The event is expected to take place at the UFC’s Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
