With the MMA world still reeling from the news that UFC 151 will no longer take place, the promotion has begun the process of shifting around some of the bouts that had been scheduled for the September 1st card.
The cancelled card had been set to showcase a welterweight bout between contender Jake Ellenberger and returning veteran Jay Hieron. Now the two will meet on October 5th, at the UFC on FX card in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ellenberger (27-6) is coming off a stoppage loss to Martin Kampmann in June, while Hieron (23-5) scored a controversial, technical submission win over Romario da Silva, while competing for Legacy Fighting Championship in July.
The UFC also announced that the welterweight bout between Charlie Brenneman and Kyle Noke has been moved to the September 22nd, UFC 152 card in Toronto, Ontario. The fight’s new date was originally reported by Sportsnet commentator Joe Ferraro.
Noke (19-6) had been preparing to make his welterweight debut next weekend, after the Australian fighter had dropped back-to-back bouts to Ed Herman and Andrew Craig.
Brenneman (15-4) will be looking to rebound from the first round, submission loss he suffered versus Erick Silva in June, after earning a unanimous decision win over Daniel Roberts in January.
The UFC has also announced that Dan Miller will no longer fight Sean Pierson at UFC 152. No replacement has been confirmed.
