Jake Ellenberger vs. Martin Kampmann Confirmed For June 1st TUF Live Finale
By FCF Staff
As expected would be the case, the welterweight bout between contenders Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann will headline “The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale” on June 1st in Las Vegas. The card, which will be broadcast live on FX, will be hosted by the city’s Pearl at the Palms Casino.
In addition to the five round main event bout, the card will feature the finals from the current season of TUF.
“The welterweight division is stacked and Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann are going to fight for the chance to earn a title shot,” UFC President Dana White was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “They will headline the season finale of TUF Live on FX to crown the next Ultimate Fighter. There’s a lot at stake for the guys competing on this card at the Palms.”
Ellenberger (27-5) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez in February to extend his winning streak to six. During the experienced wrestler’s run he’s also scored victories over Jake Shields, Sean Pierson, Carlos Eduardo Rocha, Mike Pyle and John Howard.
Kampmann (19-5) has reinserted himself into the welterweight contender mix by earning victories over Rick Story and most recently Thiago Alves, who he submitted with a third round, guillotine choke in March.
Although the welterweight is 3-2 in his last five bouts, the losses were tightly contested decisions to the aforementioned Shields and Sanchez.
