Jaron Ennis remains the IBF’s welterweight champion, following his latest bout on Saturday, as the undefeated boxer recorded a stoppage win over David Avanesyan.

Ennis dropped Avanesyan in the fifth round and after that frame, his corner informed officials they were stopping the fight.

Afterward, Ennis expressed an interest in fighting the decorated, Terence Crawford. Crawford was stripped of the IBF welterweight title after he was ordered by the IBF to fight Ennis, who won the interim title in July, 2023. Crawford is set to challenge Israil Madrimov for his WBA super welterweight title on August 2nd.

Ennis now carries a record of 32-0, with 29 stoppages. Avanesyan’s record fell to 29-5-1.

Saturday’s fight took place in Philadelphia.
