Jens Pulver “Never” Expected UFC HOF Induction

This past weekend, the UFC announced that former lightweight champ Jens Pulver has been inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame, and ‘Lil’ Evil” clearly was surprised.

The now 48-year-old fighter first fought under the UFC banner in 1999. In 2001, he won the promotion’s inaugural lightweight title by defeating Caol Uno.

A visibly, emotional Pulver was on camera during his recent, HOF announcement, and while talking with MMA Junkie afterward, he relayed he was shocked by the news.

“I was already past that, and it’s not a joke. I knew I wasn’t getting in. I was done. That whole, ‘Where Are They Now?’ I’m like, ‘You know, I’ll do it.’ I’ll let people know where I’m at. It’ll help build the UFC Twitch stream. I’ll do it. I was already done with this. …

“I’m just excited. I never ever, ever expected this. I’ve got no words.”

Pulver fought for the last time in 2013 and ended his MMA career with a record of 27-19-1.

During his career, Pulver also scored notable wins over BJ Penn, Cub Swanson, Dennis Hallman and John Lewis.
