Jim Hettes Replaces Leonard Garcia at UFC on Versus 5
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced today that featherweight Leonard Garcia has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming, August 14th bout with Alex Caceres due to an injury. No details regarding the nature of Garcia’s injury were released by the promotion.
Octagon newcomer Jim Hettes has agreed to step in for Garcia at the UFC on Versus 5 event, which will be hosted by Milwaukee’s Bradley Center.
Hettes arrives in the UFC having gone 8-0 to date since he began competing professionally in 2009. The 24 year-old fighter has won all eight of his bouts via submission.
Caceres (5-3) is looking to rebound from a first round, submission loss he suffered at the hands of Mackens Semerzier in March, while competing at UFC Fight Night 24. The former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor is 2-3 in his last five bouts.
UFC Live On Versus 5 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle, and will also feature a lightweight tilt between contenders Jim Miller and Ben Henderson.
The event will be broadcast live on the Versus Network.
