Jimmie Rivera Calls on Dominick Cruz to “Defend Your Spot”
By FCF Staff
Now that Jimmie Rivera has won five straight fights in the UFC, the New Jersey fighter has named Dominick Cruz as a potential target for his next bout.
Rivera took on noted finisher Thomas Almeida at UFC on FOX 25 Saturday, and worked his way to a decision win over the bantamweight contender. The victory moved River’s winning streak to 20, and his overall record to 21-1.
Following the entertaining fight, Rivera called out Cruz during his Octagon interview, and reportedly did again, backstage. Then, according to a report from MMA Junkie, Rivera relayed “defend your spot or get out of the way”, while referring to Cruz during the post-fight presser.
In addition, Rivera also called for an interim title fight with TJ Dillashaw, if champion Cody Garbrandt continues to be sidelined by a back injury.
Cruz hasn’t fought since December, when he lost the title to Garbrandt via decision. The former champ is currently ranked #1 at 135.
