Jiri Prochazka Says “Antenna” Hairstyle Helped Deliver Vicious KO Win
By FCF Staff
Jiri Prochazka recorded one of the year’s most vicious finishes yet at UFC Vegas 25, and afterward, the fighter pointed to something else that likely turned heads on Saturday, his hairstyle.
Prochazka faced fellow light heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes in the main event, and he proceeded to end the slug fest with a spinning elbow in round two. While discussing the finishing technique at the post-fight presser, the Czech fighter said this (quotes via MMA Junkie).
“That was a just the flow,” Prochazka said. “Just the flow. That’s why I have this antenna (my hair), to catch these ideas. … Did you see my blocks? My defense. In the first fight (in my UFC debut), there wasn’t (defense). There’s not so much defense in this fight, but it’s how it worked. I still got to fix some things.”
Prior to UFC Vegas 25, UFC President Dana White said that the winner of Reyes – Prochazka would advance to a title fight. The light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz is expected to fight Glover Teixeira later this year.
With the victory, this means Prochazka will likely fight for the title, in what will be just his third, UFC fight. The former RIZIN champ, however, had this to say about fighting for the belt.
“Yes, I think I deserve that fight, but my journey in the UFC is so quick and I’m not enjoying that so much like I want,” Prochazkasaid. “But I think yeah, I deserve that title fight. Yeah.”
The 28-year-old Prochazka has won 12 straight fights and holds a record of 28-3-1. Heading into Saturday’s action, the charismatic fighter was ranked #5 in the UFC’s 205 division and Reyes was #3.
Reyes (12-3) has now lost three straight fights, with other defeats coming against the current champ Blachowicz, and the other, a controversial, decision loss to former champ Jon Jones.
