The Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to put the finishing touches on the line-up for its upcoming July 7th event in Las Vegas, as a lightweight bout between John Alessio and Shane Roller has been added to the card.
Alessio (34-15) is coming off an unsuccessful return to the Octagon in April, as the noted veteran lost by unanimous decision to Mark Bocek at UFC 145.
The defeat ended Alessio’s three fight win streak, which included victories over Shawn Fitzsimmons, Luiz Firmino and Ryan Healy.
Roller (10-6) will also be looking to get back on track, as the noted wrestler is coming off consecutive losses to Melvin Guillard, TJ Grant and most recently Michael Johnson.
Prior to the defeats Roller had scored wins over Jamie Varner and Thiago Tavares.
UFC 148 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will feature a middleweight bout between champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen in the main event.
Some of the other bouts scheduled for the UFC 148 main card include Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le and Demian Maia vs. Dong Hyun Kim.
Urijah Faber is also expected to fight an opponent to be determined, for the interim bantamweight title, following champion Dominick Cruz’s withdrawal due to a knee injury.
