Jorge Masvidal Reports He’s in Talks With UFC For Octagon Return

After announcing he was hanging up his MMA gloves last year, it looks like Jorge Masvidal could be returning to the Octagon.
Following Masvidal’s decision loss to Gilbert Burns in April, 2023, “Gamebred” said he was walking away from MMA. The defeat was his fourth straight.
In more recent months, Masvidal has hinted at returning to the cage. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the 39-year-old confirmed he’s been in talks with the UFC for his next fight.
“I’ve been talking to my boy Hunter [Campbell],” Masvidal said. “Finding out, he’s like, ‘Let me check this date, see if this dude wants the heat, let me see if that guy wants to get beat up.’ First, we’ll lock in the date. Lock in that date and then we’ll find the body.”
Masvidal (35-17) also reported that if everything falls into place, he could fight before 2024 ends.
“It could be this year,” Masvidal said. “It could be Vegas, Dec. 7. I’ll f*cking drop Michael Chandler dead on his ass. It could be next year, Super Bowl, knock somebody else on their ass. I don’t know. I don’t quite know yet.
“I’m going to review all my options. I’m going to see all my options, see what the money looks like too. I love fighting, but most don’t need to know that, they might try to drop the price on me.”
This past July, Masvidal lost via majority decision to Nate Diaz in a boxing match. Masvidal’s last MMA victory came via a TKO win (doctor stoppage due to cut) over Diaz in 2019.
